106.8 is the biggest mileage since I left on the first day, which was NYC to Philadelphia, 114.3.
Sometimes people tell me, “wow I can never do something like that.”
The way I see it, is anyone can do this. It’s not about how strong you are or how long you’ve been riding a bike. Of course you need a bicycle and some equipment to start and some kind of finances to support your spendings, but at the end of the day the most important fact is that with enough determination, anything can get done. Whether it’s riding a bike or running a marathon. I try to tell people that riding 100 miles and camping out and eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every day and not showering and smelling bad, and getting caught in the rain; all these things are easy compared to the difficulty in challenging yourself to get out of your comfort zone. The hardest part is always taking that first step into doing something you’ve never done before. After that, it’s all easy.
